Our New USTHS80 President's Message

I have been charged
to preside over the various affairs of
this organization for a given tenure. A
role, nothing more – and I accept. I
accept this gesture of trust fully
cognizant of the tasks and time
involved, grateful to the people who
think I can and made it plain through
their votes. To Teng and Leo that
through their example and mentoring I
have learned how to serve, to those I
have worked and partied with and have
lent their presence and support in our
many undertakings, that through their
encouragement I have learned to love and
value this USTHS80 AA.
Teng’s shoes are too big to fill, and I
will not dare. I will wear mine and set
out towards a path made clear and paved
by the hard works of the previous
officers and committee heads and
members. Every term has a unique role to
play in the organization’s history, and
so it is with this one. We will seek to
define that role as I share my vision
and the direction I will take together
with the other trustees to make this
organization better.
Dear fellow class 80, the past two years
had been a successful splendid ride. We
have re-acquainted, built new ties, and
have developed a sense of purpose as a
group. This time; in this term, we will
have to build on those goodwill
established. The first term was to
invite every member to find a home in
our organization. This time we will
solidify and fortify that foundation by
instituting minor reforms and enforcing
necessary measures stipulated in our
by-laws with only one purpose - to
ensure the long-term viability of this
association. One or two provisions may
not be so popular but with utmost tact
we will implement them. I will not be
campaigning for popularity for I value
the viability of this body more than the
applause.
I will characterize this term as the
fine-tuning phase of the organization.
We have discovered what we can do best,
where our strengths lie and where we can
improve on. I have confidence in the
dedication of the other officers, the
committee heads and members, many of you
have amazed us with your sincerity and
generosity, one reason we are inspired
to give our best. Please allow us,
support us, wish us well and let's all
make a difference!
